The second match for the 1st Division side and with the new strips worn for the first time this season confidence was high. Glasgow came with a young and energetic side ready to play.
The first quarter both sides started well with Gators edging the quarter by a few points. Gators ran the break well, however Glasgow found gaps in Gators defence and were allowed some easy baskets keeping them in the game.
In the second quarter Gators stepped up their defence and the press managed to get a few steals and resulted in some fast break baskets, and moved the ball well on half court offences getting good shots. After a Glasgow time out the 10 point lead with all the hard work by Gators was undone by Glasgow, again by exploiting the gaps in the defence and also due to Gators struggling to find any offencive rhythm. Glasgow were up 6 in at the end of the half.
After this wakeup call Gators re-grouped and came out strong in the 3rd Q to overturn the deficit and with the press finally working and getting fast break oppertunities. Glasgow still managed to hold their own and score some baskets however Gators opened up a 20 lead at one point going into the 4th.
The 4th Q Gators kept up the pace however relaxed a bit near the end and some silly fouls sent Glasgow to the line to close the gap and some hurried and badly chosen offences allowed Glasgow to try and get back in the game. However Gators saw the game out for the second W of the season.
Credit to Glasgow with their young and energetic side should do well this season, and will definately be a team for the future to cause some surprises, hopefully not against us!!!!
