This was PSG's third league game this season and were looking to continue their good start to the season against the new commers to the league the Glasgow Plumbers.
This was the Plumbers first game of the season and set out to try and show that they were able to compete in the league.
It was PSG who came out stronger in the 1st Q, hustling on defence and causing some turnovers and getting fast break baskets. PSG also found some good points in the paint, with Cubby going to work early on. However with some poor rebounding and some mis communication on defence allowed Plumbers to get relatively easy baskets, which kept them in the game after the 1st Q. 26-16 after the 1st.
The second quarter was slightly more scrappy and the defence for PSG again struggling. Although PSG were scoring they allowed too many easy shots and drives to the basket. PSG edged the quarter 16-15, leaving the score at half time 42-31.
Starting the 3rd Q PSG were looking to finish the game, but the Plumbers had other ideas. The stepped up their defence, frustrating the home side on offence. The frustration carried through to PSG's defence and again gave up easy baskets and allowing the Plumbers easy access to the basket. It took several minutes for PSG to start scoring and eventually leveled out the quarter, and it finished 12-13, going into the 4th with a 10 point lead.
As we just saw that 10 points was not a great margin as the plumbers cut that down with ease. However with the wake up call, PSG played the type of defence they know they can, and ran the fast break well through turnovers and went on a sizeable run, which the Plumbers struggled to cope with. The visiting team seemed to tire and the game by then was out of reach. Quarter score 25-8
Final Score 79=52
Good performance by the PSG players who dug deep and held their composure to get the W.
Thanks to plumbers for a competitive and far from easy game, and im sure they will upset a few teams this season once they start playing well and have a few games under their belts.
