Last night saw Ayr travel up the M77 for the return fixture. Our first game against them this season ended with us winning by a single point on a big John lay-in with only a few seconds left.
With this in mind we tried to ensure we had a better start. Starting 5 was very big and err, experienced!! Although the comments I heard at half time was that we started old and slow!! Checky gits
Anyway back to the game, and the continuing trend I think from both teams this season in that the score finished very low as neither team could make any shots. End of 1st PSG 8 - Ayr 6
Second quarter and we changed our defense increasing the pressure on their guards and getting us, at last, a few easy baskets. However I reckon we must have missed about 5 lay-ups, not to mention about 4 free throws in this quarter alone. Ayr struggled for the first few minutes to adjust to the pressure and this helped us build up a little lead. End of the half PSG 26 - Ayr 14
Second half started the same as the first, with both teams missing a lot of shots and some sloppy play leading to lots of turnovers. At point I could swear it was more like a football game with all the play being in the middle of the court and nothing at each basket!! End of the 3rd PS 38 - Ayr 24
Fourth quarter and we turned the defense back up, couple this with tiredness and a little frustration from the Ayr team and we really stretched our lead. This allowed me to give some of the less experienced guys a little more floor time.
Final Score PSG 67 - Ayr 43
