This was the second encounter for both teams this season, and after a win for PSG from a large deficit the first game Strom were looking to even the score.
The game started at a high pace and it was Storm who came out the stronger. They were scoring well against PSG's zone defence with some nice ball and player movement giving them some well worked shots. Poor rebounding by PSG also allowed Storm many second shot oppertunities. On offence PSG failed to click, and Storms man defence frustrated PSG somewhat. A very poor first quarter for PSG giving Storm a 19-7 advantage.
The second quarter was a more even affair. The majority of the damage was done in the first Q. Although PSG started scoring with a combination of outside shots and driving strong to the hoop, getting Storms bigs in some foul trouble, defence was still lacking and Storm kept thier firat quarter lead intact. 33-20 at half time.
Half time PSG team talk was about sorting out issues on both end of the court. Changes to offence and defence were made and the momentum that was gathered in the 2nd quarter built upon. PSG came out to get back into the game which we had let out of our hands early on. Some inspired defence and pressure on Storm saw PSG forcing many turnovers. Capitalising on these PSG sparked their offence into gear and started scoring well and cutting into the lead. The momentum stayed with PSG for the remainder of the quarter, and saw the 13 point lead wiped out. Storm took 7 minutes to score in the quarter, but managed to go back into the lead with some good free throw shooting late in the period. They went into the 4th with a 5 point lead however 2 players out due to foul trouble. 45-40 end of quarter.
This had turned into a close game and both teams were feeling the pressure. Although PSG kept pressing and forcing turnovers, they failed to convert at times on offence. There were several lead changes in the quarter and the game was decided in the final minute of the game. With the scores tied PSG took a 1 point lead with Chris hitting 1 of 2 free throws. Another Storm turnover with under a minute to go, and PSG held the ball for a good shot. With the shot clock winding down, Wei Hao drove to the hoop and put PSG up by 3. Storm had a chance to tie bit missed a shot and PSG got the rebound and hit the resulting freethrows to put the game out of reach. Final score 55 - 60.
A very similar game to the first game against the two sides. PSG the victors in both after very poor starts. Storm will be upset in loosing after such positive starts. Match videos can be viewed http://www.youtube.com/user/d4kas
